Dr. Parris’ Treatment Philosophy

One of the most important aspects of my practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine is cultivating and establishing a healing and caring relationship with my patients. The process of healing takes trust; both in oneself as well as the powerful effects that acupuncture and herbal treatment can have on the healing process. In my practice, I take time with each patient to understand all aspects of the reasons they have come to me for help.

The diagnosis begins the moment a patient walks into my office. The way a patient walks, their gait, the quality and strength in their voice, the color of their skin, and the clarity of their eyes all give me important information about how to focus the treatment. I also use tradition means of diagnosis, like reading pulses and looking at tongues.

It is important for me to give my patients the slowed down time and quiet space to reflect and share their health concerns. In that way we can set a course for an effective treatment plan together in a partnership that allows the patient to fully participate in their own healing and journey towards better health.

My ”boutique” practice gives each patient a quiet, calming, healing experience each time they come in for treatment. There is no hurry or rushed appointment, as I schedule my time to be fully available to each patient.

My focus is on sharing knowledge and educating each of my patients to become their own healer by living in a more balanced way through a good diet, adequate rest and activity, good digestion, and a calm and peaceful mindset. In ancient times acupuncture and herbs were needed only when the patent had strayed from a balanced lifestyle. The focus was on preventing disease and illness through living “the way” — moderation in all things.

I have tremendous respect and belief in the healing power of Chinese Medicine and seek to share all the wisdom that is inherent in its philosophy with all my patients. The most important aspect is to help the patient understand how all choices in life impact quality of heath in a profound way. Making healthy, conscious choices can and will restore the body, mind, and spirit to a more radiant health.
